Overview

This programme will provide students with an understanding of the essential elements of the strategic management process of organisations working in the seafood industry sector. Students will be introduced to the importance of strategically assessing both the external and internal environment of businesses in the fisheries, aquaculture and seafood processing sector. Following a strategic assessment, students should be able to build a suitable internal environment for innovation. Likewise, students should be able to support organisational objectives with suitable human resourcing strategies.

On completion of this programme, students should be able to:
- Select the appropriate models and techniques for evaluating an industry and assessing the impact of external and internal environmental conditions;
- Developing an appropriate competitive strategy based on environment scanning;
- Assess the current organisational conditions affecting innovation in an aqua business;
- Assess the human resource requirements to fulfil the pursuit of organisational strategies

Entry Requirements

Applicants require an NFQ Level 7 or Level 8 Award or equivalent in a related discipline. All applicants will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Lifelong Learning reserves the right to require applicants to attend for an interview to determine their suitability for the programme.
