SETU provides academic programmes and awards in Zhengzhou, Henan, China through a Joint Educational Institute (JEI) recently established with Henan University of Animal Husbandry and Economy (HUAHE). The establishment of CICT (Carlow International College of Technology) in China is the culmination of almost two decades of successful collaboration between SETU and HUAHE. 

SETU now wishes to recruit highly motivated, innovative, qualified and experienced lecturers to deliver a range of academic modules in CICT China, in collaboration with faculty in HUAHE, commencing for the 2024/2025 academic year. These are Specified Purpose posts for a duration of 4 years. These modules are part of the following SETU Level 8 honours degree programmes:

Successful applicants will be required to spend one or two semesters in CICT China each year depending on the post, reporting overall to the relevant Head of Department/Head of Campus at SETU, with day-to-day reporting to the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs CICT China (or other designated SETU officer) when residing in China. 

All appointments will be dependent on successful attainment of a visa to work in China.

Proficiency in both English and Mandarin would be an advantage.

Successful applicants must have a relevant Honours degree (First or Second class) or equivalent, plus a relevant higher qualification (Masters or PhD) or equivalent professional qualification. Applicants will also have at least three years relevant postgraduate experience.  A Level 10 qualification in the related field is strongly preferred.

Assistant Lecturer Salary Scale: €44,198 - €60,047

Lecturer Salary Scale: €64,947 - €100,489

    Modules include: Applied ICT in Agriculture, Farm Mechanisation and Farm Buildings and Regulations.
  • 32424 Assistant Lecturer - Soil Science/Crops
  • 32545 Lecturer / Assistant Lecturer - Brewing and Distilling Engineering (6 months)
    Expertise in control systems, SCADA, PLC programming, control valves, mechanical engineering, electrical systems, fluid mechanics, steam generation and use as well as refrigeration and process control instrumentation such as PLC, RTD SCADA, 4-20 mA analogue output is desirable.
  • 32564 Lecturer / Assistant Lecturer (X2) - Microbiology / Biochemistry / Biotechnology
    Experience in Brewing and Distilling processes is highly desirable. Expertise in biology, microbiology, fermentation, downstream processing, purification, isolation and identification are essential. Experience with food, pharmaceutical and environmental sectors is desirable.
