The Research Office ensures that the research community is kept informed of all funding opportunities, upcoming deadlines, research workshops, information sessions and training programmes. The Research Office at SETU has developed  a broad range of training and development programmes for our research community. Topics range from grant writing guidance, managing your research project, programme information sessions and workshops.

Research Room: Virtual Drop-In session 

The Research Office hosts a weekly drop-in session called the ‘Research Room’ every Tuesday at 14:00 on Zoom. The session is hosted by a member of the Research Office team who will answer queries regarding upcoming funding calls and other supports. 

SETU Programme Brochures

The Research Office provides SETU researchers with comprehensive guidance on applying to funding programmes. These guides will detail the relevant aspects of a particular call including the eligibility, funding amounts, themes of the calls, scale of the application, expected outcomes and potential excellence and impact of the work to be proposed. Brochures aim to guide applicants on each application section, highlighting key criteria to build into your response

Research Office Technical Reviews 

The Research Office can, depending on capacity, provide a comprehensive non-scientific, technical review of research proposals. Technical reviews will cover a variety of criteria including readability, flow and structure, reference to the thematic direction of the call, relevance to policy, impact and industry (where applicable), career, training and personal development, SETU infrastructure, understanding of gender in research, and strength of dissemination and communications plans. 

To avail of a review, please be aware of the following criteria: 

  • The deadline for submission must be no less than one month. 
  • Your application must be recorded on Pure.
  • Your application must be suitably progressed, i.e. most if not all sections of the application should be completed or nearing completion. 
  • You must clearly reference the call, if not an Research Office advertised call (tender etc) please include a call document or equivalent. 
  • Email [email protected] with the request for technical review attaching your application in editable format (Word document), include diagrams and any associated declarations.
