This 10 credit programme aims to explore the similarities and differences in the psychotherapeutic offerings in relation to young people’s mental health. The student will be introduced to the following approaches; Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Behavioural Therapy.

The module will outline the Cake Model of Mental Health assessment with practice sessions and workshops where the student will be required to carry out a structured assessment of young people and their families

Delivery

Students will undertake an element of their learning on-line (80%), via primarily asynchronous (and some synchronous) modes.  These will include lectures, online resources and workshops.

This module can be taken as a stand alone Certificate or as part of the PG Diploma or MSc in Mental Health Practice for Children and Young People.

Candidates must have a Level 8 qualification in a cognate discipline

There is no licence to practice involved in any of the awards, but each will enhance the student’s knowledge of the specific areas of children’s and young people’s mental health
