This 10 credit programme aims to explore the impact of technology on the emotional development of the child, appraising how technology has impacted the communication styles of children and families.

The module will explore the explanations for the monumental increase in Gender Identity issues in young people and explore the best evidence available to guide how best to respond to and support young people and families in circumstances.

The module aims to create an awareness of the possible positive and negative impacts of technology on childhood communication and family life and the potential impact of technology on education, learning and social development considering the role of contemporary media on the choice architecture of children and parents.

Delivery

Students will undertake an element of their learning online (80%), via primarily asynchronous (and some synchronous) modes.  These will include lectures, online resources and workshops.

This module can be taken as a stand alone Certificate or as part of the PG Diploma or MSc in Mental Health Practice for Children and Young People

Candidates must have a Level 8 qualification in a cognate discipline

There is no licence to practice involved in any of the awards, but each will enhance the student’s knowledge of the specific areas of children’s and young people’s mental health
