About SATLE

SATLE – the Strategic Alignment of Teaching and Learning Enhancement Funding in Higher Education – is a €6.4m funding allocation administered by the National Forum in partnership with the Higher Education Authority to drive teaching and learning innovation and enhancement across the higher education sector.

This year’s allocation to SETU has supported over 33 initiatives, including large-scale projects, individual fellowships and university-wide seminars, all of which are designed to enhance the learning environment.

The focused themes for SATLE 2023 are:

  • Combatting AI Assessment Issues with AI Assessment.
  • Statistics Skills Mastery: Scaling and Refining Stats Skills.
  • Enhancing Blended Delivery in an Evolving Context.
  • "Cultivating Inclusive Playgrounds: A Collaborative Educational Initiative for Early "Childhood Development".
  • Collaborative Innovations for Sustainable Futures - CI4SusFut. 
  • Developing a toolkit for ethical GenAI integration in large group teaching and assessment in Arts or theory-based modules. 
  • Coding Essentials: Extending Our Web-App to New Programmers.
  • Use of an online early alert system to enhance student learning and to aid student retention in introductory chemistry modules. 
  • Raising the Bar-UDL and the potential for transforming learning environments: A case study of the first steps in introducing a UDL framework to teaching, learning and assessment on a departmental level at SETU. 
  • Standardised approach to module design Toolkit.

  • SETU Hospitality, Culinary and Tourism Industry Partners Seminar to promote and foster greater understanding of the role that Placement Providers / Industry Mentors play. 
  • Autism Awareness and Acceptance Event.
  • Enable final (4th) year students of the BA (Hons) in Arts in Culinary Arts to participate in a food styling and professional food photography masterclass.
