The NTUTORR project centres around three streams:

Stream 1 -Transforming the Student Experience

Stream 2 - Developing Staff capabilities

Stream 3 – Enabling Digital Eco Systems

Each stream has three work packages with 32 deliverables to be achieved during the lifetime of the project.

Transform the Student Experience

The objectives of stream 1 are to:

  1. To promote an inclusive and accessible learning experience to enhance student success for all learners.
  2. To transform the student learning experience by reviewing the student lifecycle through the lens of digital by design, education for sustainability, EDI, regional and industry development.
  3. To build student digital capabilities and transversal skills for employability.
  4. To develop capacity to work in partnership and empower students to provide opportunities for HE transformation.

The work packages in Stream 1 aims to transform the student experience and to address the key challenges arising out the pandemic including equality, access, community empowerment and climate action.

Developing Staff Capabilities

The objectives of stream 2 are to:

  1. To establish a sectoral Sustainable Higher Education Framework Steering Group/Community of Practice (CoP) tasked with the project coordination and overall management of the work package.
  2. To determine baseline activity across the sector in terms of staff capability within the context of supporting the transformation of learning, Teaching & Assessment against a sustainable education framework (including digital transformation, resilience, EDI and Sustainable Development Goals and to scope out and advise on a toolkit to support staff transformation.
  3. To identify Sustainable Higher Education Futures Champions across the sector to work both at institutional and national level and to act as ambassadors for sustainable higher education.
  4. To design, develop, implement and support accredited provision for staff through a digital badging system.
  5. To design and implement, within each college, a Curriculum Framework for Sustainable Higher Education Future & Resilience and during the lifetime of the project to begin to implement this, along with the integration of UDL principles, into curriculum at programmatic reviews.
  6. To undertake, within each college, a needs analysis to inform development of staff capabilities; develop and implement a professional development plan and a staff development portal
  7. To undertake a scoping exercise to design a system to support a national and sustainable approach to the recognition of staff CPD. Work to be informed by the National Forum PDF and the work to date of the national Recognition of Prior Learning project.

Work Package 2.1 - Sectoral level support of the development of staff capabilities within a sustainable higher education framework

Work Package 2.2 - Development of a transformational sustainable higher education curriculum framework

Work Package 2.3 - Developing capabilities of all staff to support transformative sustainable higher education and resilience

Enabling Digital Ecosystems

The objectives of stream 3 are to create and enhance digital ecosystems to transform learning, teaching and assessment in a sustainable, rigorous, accessible and quality-assured manner.

This stream focuses on the transformative development of a digital ecosystem, including: (i) hardware, (ii) software and (iii) equipment, for teaching, learning and assessment that is diverse, equitable and inclusive and addresses sustainable education development encompassing: (i) the pedagogical and learning environment; (i) learning outcomes; and, (iii) learning content for both students and staff.
