Scholarship Overview
The Society of Irish Foresters is the professional body for foresters in Ireland. They award the Augustine Henry memorial medal each year to the student that has produced outstanding work in the final year of the Bachelor of Science in Forestry. In addition to the memorial medal, the society sponsor the winning student to participate on their annual international study tour. Recent student winners joined the society in visits to France, Austria and Poland.
Augustine Henry is known as the father of Irish forestry due to his involvement in setting up the state forest service and his position as Professor of Forestry in UCD.
Students don't need to apply for the award. The award is given to the student who successfully achieves the highest average marks in the final year of the Bachelor of Science in Forestry.
