startX is a new pre-accelerator programme created and funded by South East Technological University (SETU). It is running from March to May 2024. This free programme will support four cohorts of early-stage innovators, each aligned with the research themes of the four technology Gateways within SETU: Design+; PMBRC; SEAM; and the ICS Technology Gateway at Walton Institute.

An opportunity for early-stage participants to gain knowledge and experience in the entrepreneurial ecosystem by taking idea-stage concepts and learning how to validate and scale. The startX programme will be delivered on-site at SETU campus locations, giving participants access to the world class R&D and technological insights at SETU’s technology gateways. They will gain a better understanding of an entrepreneurial career path, being provided with best-in-class tools to think clearly about the opportunities to pursue. They will also be exposed to world-class insights and experience from industry leaders, and be signposted towards right-sized supports within the local ecosystem.

startX has been designed to bring innovation and scaling skills to a wide range of entrepreneurs. If you have an idea and you want to test whether or not it’s suitable for your ambitious plans for growth, then startX is for you.

We welcome applications from:

  • Individual with an idea.
  • Early-stage start-ups.
  • Student* entrepreneurs, currently based at SETU, or at other institutions.
  • Local South East businesses looking for an innovative edge to fuel their growth.

*Note: the startX programme does not qualify for any educational course
credits.
