Postgraduate Diploma in Business in Finance and Business Analytics aims to enable participants to:

  • Develop quantitative, analytical and ICT skills to carry out data and financial analysis tasks.
  • Communicate and interpret the output of their analysis.
  • Exhibit curiosity, in a critical manner, in evaluating analysis undertaken by themselves or others.
  • Develop their careers within their current employment or as an initial stepping stone to a career as a financial analyst/data analyst.

The course offers students the opportunity to develop their understanding of the theories underpinning core phenomena in business analysis while allowing students to work with ‘live’ data, facilitated through the availability of the newly developed Finance Lab.

The course will be delivered in-person and on-campus in concentrated blocks. Students are required to attend lectures on campus over 3 days, complemented with independent self-learning. The programme will be delivered using a mix of lectures and practicals (IT lab based). Practice-based training will be central to this with candidates receiving specialised training in PL-SQL, Real Stats, Eikon, Stocktrak and Qlikviews. There is also an opportunity to be part of a broader community of graduate business students. Some of the modules may be shared with other graduate courses.
