The BA in Community Education and Development aims to enable people working in the community and voluntary sector to work effectively as reflective community education and development practitioners.  Using a community education methodology, participants are encouraged to reflect on and share their knowledge, expertise and practice within a collaborative learning environment. This programme has been designed in collaboration with community practitioners for people working in the community, whether paid or voluntary, to gain an accredited qualification in community education and development, thus, enhancing their employment prospects.  The programme is delivered by skilled Community Education practitioners using group work methods. This delivery promotes the practice of collective and shared learning drawing on the knowledge and skills that the students bring to the classroom. Classes are delivered in workshop-style, where collaborative and creative learning is strongly encouraged.

Duration:  2 years.

Progression: On successful completion of this programme, graduates may progress to the BA (Hons) in Community Education and Development.

Fees:

€370 per 10ECTS Module

Applicants must:

  • Hold a L6 qualification in in Community Education e.g. Higher Certificate in Community Education and Development or equivalent.
  • Be actively involved in community work, in either a voluntary or paid capacity.
  • Possess a strong equality and inclusion ethos.
