Our SETU access team in Waterford engage with schools, local/regional partnerships and community development projects to support and encourage third level access for members of the Traveller and Roma communities. Funding, provided through the dormant accounts fund has enabled our access team to further develop initiatives and strengthen links with our area partnerships. Ensuring that the risks associated with COVID-19 do not serve to widen the existing and very significant gap in participation in higher education by Travellers.

SETU in Waterford are part of the SOAR project, which is an inter-institutional collaboration on access. It brings together the south cluster – Munster Technological University, University College Cork and South East Technological University together with community partners to collaborate on devising and delivering strategies to increase access to higher education for under-represented groups. The project is funded by the programme for access to higher education (PATH) strand 3.
