Career Focused Points entry scheme offers SETU CAO applicants who successfully demonstrate a genuine level of interest, understanding and motivation toward specific discipline area and career to be awarded 50 additional CAO points in their chosen area of study.
At SETU, we want to acknowledge the hard work and commitment you have put into researching your CAO options and making the right choice for you. We wish to award this with the allocation of 50 additional points through SETU's Career Focused Points entry scheme.
This exciting scheme offers our CAO applicants who successfully demonstrate a genuine level of interest, understanding and motivation toward specific discipline areas and careers to be awarded additional points. The scheme is designed to enable applicants to choose careers reflecting their particular skills and attributes. We want to recognise our applicants’ level of interest by recognising the level and quality of research undertaken in reaching career choices, and wish to reward this with the allocation of additional points through the SETU Aptitude Points Scheme.
Applications will be assessed with successful applicants assigned an additional H6 grade* (46 additional points) to include as part of the points calculations for the discipline-specific programmes applied for via the CAO. Admission to SETU therefore will be based not only on our applicant's academic qualifications, but also on the demonstrated level of interest in the discipline.
*The H6 will not substitute for an entry requirement or an honour where required.
Whatever your academic achievements are, if you have an interest and aptitude in a specific discipline area SETU encourages you to apply for additional points under the SETU Aptitude Points scheme. SETU acknowledge that all of the research you have done, activities you have engaged in, and the experience you have gained either through formal employment of voluntary engagement, is important and vital to supporting your decision making process in choosing the right programme for you.
Note that to be eligible to apply for the scheme, you must have applied to the CAO before the 1 May deadline
You must complete an online application which consists of several sections including your personal details, your research journey, aptitudes, future career plans and reflections. Supporting documentation is required to support your application and could include assessments, copies of class work completed, Try Events completed, evidence of activities (employment or voluntary) and any other information that demonstrates your interest in studying this discipline.
