Biography

I am a lecturer in Business Studies (Econometrics, Statistics and Research Methods) in the Department of Accounting & Economics in the School of Business and I am the Course Director for the Executive Masters in Business Administration (EMBA). I have also supervised many undergraduate and postgraduate dissertation processes and projects and find it rewarding to see students' research work culminate in completed dissertations. In addition, I have a keen interest in research in the area of healthcare economics.

I have taught a number of quantitative modules at WIT since I joined here in 1996 - these include Econometrics, Introductory Econometrics, Business Statistics, Mathematics and Statistics, Business Research Methods, Business Research and Analysis and Risk Management. My teaching is primarily at  postgraduate level but I have also delivered a number of undergraduate modules.

I completed my PhD in 2012 through the University of Nottingham - my research title was 'The Impact of Risk Management Processess on Clinical Negligence Claims Across Acute NHS Hospital Trusts'. This research was supervised by Professor Paul Fenn and Dr. Dev Vencappa of Nottingham University Business School and was externally examined by Professor Alastair Gray of the University of Oxford.

In 2014, I acted as internal examiner for a DBA thesis completed by Tom O'Dwyer on the 'Consequences of Self Leadership for an Irish Public Sector Knowledge Organisation'.

While all of my professional experience has been in the academic field (I worked in UCD for four years (1992-1996) before joining WIT), my role as Programme Director of the Executive MBA involves continuous interaction with industry professionals. I have also served as vice chairperson of the south eastern chapter of the MBA Association of Ireland for over ten years and have been the main organiser of Executive MBA International Study Trips to Boston on a biannual basis since 2003.
