Biography

Dr Stephanie O'Flynn is a Lecturer in Law in the Department of Law and Criminal Justice at the South East Technological University. Stephanie holds a B.A. (Hons) in Legal Studies with Business (WIT), an LL.M. (University College Cork) and a PhD (National University of Ireland, Galway). She is the current Programme Leader for the Higher Certificate in Arts in Legal Studies.

Stephanie lectures across a range of modules on the Bachelor of Laws, the BA in Criminal Justice Studies, and the Higher Certificate in Legal Studies.

Stephanie’s research focuses on animal protection law, ethics, and theory. She has presented and published her work at national and international conferences and is an Associate Fellow at the Oxford Centre for Animal Ethics. Her primary interests include the legal status of animals, animal rights theory, and comparative animal protection law. She has a specific interest in the legal treatment of dogs as companion animals and in sporting contexts.
