Biography

Dr Peter Carew is a full-time lecturer in computing and information systems at SETU Waterford.  His teaching and research interests lie primarily in the areas of computer programming, artificial intelligence, human-centred systems, digital cultural heritage, and computer ethics.

  • Currently lead/co-supervising two PhD students at INSYTE/SETU Waterford.
  • Previously supervised three MSc by Research students to successful completion in the areas of open source software (2006), IT certification integration (2007), and online learning (2013).
  • Previously supervised numerous successful dissertations on taught MSc in computing programmes on various topics, including: outsourcing, IT infrastructure value, privacy, WLAN, biometrics, SOA security, cyber bullying, foreign online language learning, business intelligence in online trading, mobile devices in education, e-commerce password security, agile development, cloud risk, information systems in non-profit organisations, automated foreign exchange, and social media sentiment analysis.
