Biography
Nóra B. Kavanagh is a music educator, performer, musical director, and composer with a particular interest in creativity, inclusivity, and life-long learning. The nature of her discipline opens up the opportunity to incorporate various skill sets. These include connecting with different pedagogical approaches and presenting music in various artforms such as performance, text, imagery, and musical compositions. An advocate for life-long learning Nóra enjoys embracing new teaching platforms which help to broaden her scope to engage with students and peers at all stages of their academic journey.
Nóra B. Kavanagh was the first music student to be conferred with First Class Honours from the B.A.Mus (Hons) degree at Waterford Regional Technical College in 1994. She has to date completed a Master's Degree in Research and Performance alongside a Master's Degree in Teaching and Learning in Further and Higher Education. Her most recent publication titled Mo Cheol was published in July 2024.
Alongside her duties at SETU, Nóra is a well-established music teacher and musical director in the South-East Region. Musical Director with the following ensembles;
- SETU Irish Traditional Music Orchestra (2023 to date)
- Music Generation Waterford Senior Traditional Orchestra (2019-2022)
- Casóg (2013-2014)
- Craobh Nua (2008-2011)
- Waterford CCÉ Traditional Ensemble (2004-2006)
