Biography

Michael Tobin is a social policy and social care lecturer in the Department of Arts. Michael has been teaching in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, at South East Technological University, Waterford campus, since 2010.

Michael is a member of the Analysing Social Change Research Group. He has a keen interest in technology enhanced learning, digital and AI literacy skills. 

Research interests include: Irish and comparative social policy, citizenship, nationalism, street-level bureaucracy, European studies and the Media.

SPEEDS Project

2017-2019 collaborating with social policy educators nationwide as part of the ‘Digital literacy for social policy educators’ project. This collaborative project (type 2) was part of the National Forum under their Teaching and Learning Enhancement Call. The working title for our project is ‘Expanding Personal and Professional Digital Capacities in Social Policy Teaching and Learning Contexts: A Collaboration between Social Policy Educators and Learning Technologists’.
