Michael Gleeson is a lecturer in the Department of Computing in SETU Carlow, lecturing a range of computer science modules across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
Academically, he holds a BSc (Hons) in Computing from TUS Midlands and an MSc in Computing from TU Dublin. Michael also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Third Level Teaching and Learning from TU Dublin. Professionally, his background is primarily in systems administration and various backend technical consultancy roles. Professional certifications he has previously achieved include Cisco, VMWare, Red Hat, Microsoft MTA and Sun Microsystem (Pre-Oracle!).
Reflecting his interest in the DIY ‘Maker Movement’, Michael has an active research interest in ubiquitous computing, sensor networks and IoT technologies. He has previously published in the area of computer security, virtualization and web services and has presented his findings at conferences nationally and internationally.
Michael’s current teaching includes Operating Systems, Infrastructure for Big Data, Secure Systems Administration and Advanced Incident Handling.
