Biography

Máire Harney is the Assistant Course Leader BA (hons) Exercise & Health Studies, a member of the Centre for Health Behaviour Research in WIT and a member of the Academic Council in WIT.  Máire  lectures across most courses in the Department in the areas of Exercise Programming, Exercise Leadership, Activity Leadership, Data & Measurement, Dissertation Supervision and Work Placement Supervision.

Máire teaches undergraduate modules in the following areas; exercise programming, exercise leadership, activity leadership and sports pedagogy and skills development. Se has also supervised research at both at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Ryan, M., (2007). The effects of an intervention to increase self-perception and intrinsic motivation in physical activity in primary school girls. European Federation of Sport Psychology (FEPSAC) conference, Halkidiki, Greece.

Máire was a summer camp co-ordinator for individuals with disabilities for HOPE Community Resources, Anchorage, Alaska in 2003 & 2004.  She was a supervisor in the Ard Ri Leisure Centre from 2000-2005. Máire was a commercial group fitness instructor from 2002-2004 and a Tutor –Trainer for the Action for Life programme for the Irish Heart Foundation in 2004–2006.
