Biography

Jim Cantwell primarily lectures on the applied training degrees. He has over two decades of practice experience in the social care field. His later practice experience is in psychotherapy and he practices privately in the southeast. He ia an accrediated member of the Irish Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists (IACP) as a psychotherapist and with the British Psychological Society (BPS) as a registered psychometric test administrator.

Jim has been lecturing in WIT since 2005.

Jim's areas of research to date have both a both social care and therapy focus. His interests and writing have focused on the parent / child realtionship process, foster care practice, and use of agency employment strategy in social care environments.

Jim's main area of practice as a social care manager / worker was in the residential sector with adolescents between 10 - 19 years of age. His current practice is as a psychotherapist with a broad range of clients and client issues.
