Biography

Jamie Power holds a Bachelor in Business Studies and a PhD from Waterford Institute of Technology. His doctoral work, supported by a competitively secured Irish Research Council postgraduate award, focussed on the devolution of HRM within a shared services environment. He subsequently carried out postdoctoral research in service innovation with the RIKON Group combining funded applied research, research consultancy and European funded research project delivery.   

He is experienced in liaising with research funding agencies, industry partners and other external organisations. Jamie has held a number of positions in the University supporting the research and staff community spanning research officer, recruitment and HR business partnering roles.

As a previous Research Programme Manager at RIKON-WIT, Jamie led the development of the Group’s national and European project, collaboration and research funding activities in addition to coordinating the Group’s knowledge transfer, publication and dissemination agendas. As a previous Enterprise Ireland knowledge provider in the areas of business modelling and process improvement, Jamie has delivered applied research and consultancy to over 200 companies.

Jamie has authored a range of publications across diverse thematic fields ranging from HRM, innovation policy, service innovation and business modelling. Committed to continuing professional development and knowledge transfer, Jamie is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and the Irish Academy of Management.

Jamie has received recognition for his research acumen through competitively securing multiple National and European funding awards in addition to early-stage career research funding from the Irish Research Council.

2014-2016: Work Package Leader (European Funded Project - IPACSO)

Leading RIKONs tasks and deliverables in the project IPACSO. Specific responsibilities included primary and secondary research, stakeholder engagement, business modelling, workshop delivery, developing innovation frameworks, innovating VLE and blended learning delivery, reporting and dissemination.

 

2009-2011:  Postdoctoral Researcher, RIKON, Waterford Institute of Technology

Supporting the academic, postgraduate and applied research activities within the RIKON Group. Duties included: funding proposal and tender development, project administration, management and delivery, reporting and innovation/business development consultancy delivery.

Competitively secured the first IRCHSS postgraduate scholarship in the School of Business.
