Geraldine Bennett has been teaching in the WIT Music School since 1997. She graduated from Queens University Belfast in 1992 with a B.A. (Hons) in Music. Subsequently, she moved to London and proceeded to train and work as a Secondary School Music teacher, obtaining her Post-Graduate Certificate of Education through Kingston University in 1994. In 1996, Her Piano studies led to the award of L.T.C.L. Piano Teaching Diploma, acquired through Trinity College London. In recent years Geraldine has furthered her interest in Education through achieving Distinction in a Post-Graduate Diploma in Music Education (2007) and an MA in Music Education (2010), studied through Reading University.
Since joining the WIT, she has taught group and individual lessons in Piano, Theory, Musicianship and Discovering Music. More recently, she has been working within the WIT Choral Program, as both a Piano Accompanist and Conductor. She takes an active role in the activities of the Music School, preparing students for concerts, competitions and Associated Board and Royal Irish Academy of Music Examinations. Geraldine has also involved herself in the wider community, offering Music lessons within Primary Schools and Piano Accompanist services to local Musicians and Choral Societies. In her leisure time, she enjoys singing in the award winning Waterford ladies choir ‘Voci’.
