Biography

Eilis Magee has completed a BA in Recreation and Leisure (WIT), a Master of Science in Exercise and Sport Science with an Emphasis in Sport Psychology (Ithaca College, NY) and a BA in Counselling and Psychometric Studies (ICHAS). After teaching for two years in the Drogheda Institute of Further Education across sport, exercise and leisure modules she commenced lecturing at WIT in 2005. She lectures on the Recreation and Sport Management, Exercise and Health Studies and Health Promotion courses. Eilis’ industry experience includes fitness instruction, swim teaching, athletics coaching and sport psychology consulting.  

Modules past and present: Sport and Exercise Psychology, Exercise Psychology, Social and Health Psychology, Key Populations, Sports Pedagogy and Skills Development, Principles and Practices of Sport, Data and Measurement, Active Citizenship, Resistance and Conditioning. Dissertation supervisor for undergraduate and postgraduate students. Work Placement Co-ordinator for MA in Sport Psychology and undergraduate courses 2005-2008.

Eilis’ research interests include psychology of injury and coach-athlete communication in sport. She has supervised a variety of topics at undergraduate and postgraduate level such as burnout and overtraining, psychological impact of injury, self-efficacy in sport and exercise and body image.
