Biography

2007: Masters of Science (Research), Universtiy of Limerick.

2002: Graduate Diploma in Commercial Computing, Waterford Institute of Technology.

1997: Higher Diploma in Education, University College Cork.

1996: BA (Joint Honours) Degree in Economics and Mathematical Studies, University College Cork.

I have been lecturing in WIT since 1999, over that period I have mostly taught mathematics modules to first and second year students. I have also taught Project Management and Software Engineering to third year Multimedia students for a number of years.  Here is the list of the mathematics modules which  have taught :

I have provided learning support to students in the Maths Learning Centre in W.I.T .

I have also engaged in designing, reviewing and updating mathematics modules in the Computing & Mathematics Dept and the Built Evironment Dept.

 

From September 1997 to October 1999, I worked for Kilkenny V.E.C. and I taught the following:

Junior Cert (Ord) Maths, Leaving Cert (Ord & Hons) Maths, V.T.O.S Centre, Waterford Rd., Waterford

Ecomonics to 2nd year Business students (Institute of Public Adminstration), Ormonde College, Kilkenny.

The title of my research masters was:

'An investigation of the role of ICT in enhancing service mathematics learning in higher education'

 

My research areas of interest are:

  • The role of technology in the teaching and learning mathematics in IoTs.
  • The transition for students from second level mathematics to third level mathematics.
  • Adult mathematics education at third level.
  • Promoting the role and importance of mathematics in third level education.

Since I gained employment in W.I.T. I have attended the following:
