Ambrose graduated from Waterford Institute of Technology in 1995 with a BSc. in Applied Chemistry with Quality Management and is a Lecturer in the School of Science and Computing since 2011.
Prior to working at Waterford IT, Ambrose worked for various pharmaceutical companies in a number of positions over thirteen years in the areas of bulk pharmaceutical production and solid dose manufacturing.
Ambrose also has two Masters of Science in different disciplines, graduating from Limerick Institute of Technology in 2000 with an MSc. by research in the area of analytical sensor development and also graduating from the University of Manchester in 2006 with an MSc. in Industrial Pharmaceuticals.
Ambrose has lectured at undergraduate and postgraduate level in both the School of Science and Computing and the Business School in Waterford IT particularly in the area of Pharmaceutical Operations, Production and Processing, Scale-Up, Drug Development, GMP and Lean and Six Sigma activities. Ambrose is also involved in the supervision of third and fourth year undergraduate projects as well as laboratory classes.
Ambrose spent a number of years working for Schering-Plough, Rathdrum Co. Wicklow as an In Process Control Chemist before deciding to go back to complete an MSc. by research at Waterford IT and Limerick IT. He then got an opportunity to join Teva Pharmaceuticals in Waterford as an Analytical Chemist within the R&D group and subsequently became a Formulation Scientist, also within the R&D department. During this time he completed an MSc. in Industrial Pharmaceuticals with the University of Mancehster.
He left R&D after 6 years service and joined the Operations Department as a Process Scientist where his duties involved the evaluation and transfer of new products from within the Teva portfolio to the Waterford site. He worked in this position for 5 years before leaving in 2010.
