As the clock ticks down to the CAO 1 February deadline, students across the region are encouraged to discover why South East Technological University (SETU) could be the perfect fit.
Applicants, including second-level and mature students, and those availing of HEAR or DARE schemes, have until Thursday, 1 February at 5pm to meet the Central Applications Office (CAO) application deadline for undergraduate courses in Irish higher education institutions.
Those, who have not yet submitted their application, are being urged to consider studying at the first technological university in the south east. A multi-campus university, SETU is spread across Wexford, Waterford, and Carlow, providing a university qualification closer to home.
At SETU, students can choose to study one of over 140 courses covering everything from business, engineering, and science to tourism, hospitality, computing, humanities, and beyond. This includes ordinary and honours degree courses, making SETU an ideal choice for those contemplating their CAO preferences.
Last September, over 3,100 first-year, full-time undergraduate students, recognised the University’s growing reputation for providing a rewarding academic experience, when they chose to enrol at SETU.
Speaking about what sets SETU apart from other universities, Marketing and Outreach Officer, Jess Lawton says, “SETU aims to make higher education accessible, it ensures that every student reaches their academic potential. Not only does it offer a diverse range of courses, but it is also a university that cares about students’ educational journeys.
“Plus, with solid industry connections, practically all courses at SETU offer valuable work placements as part of the learning experience. For those with a global perspective, many courses also present opportunities for enriching study-abroad experiences.”
With the CAO closing date for applications on 1 February at 5pm fast approaching, Jess urges students to consider studying at SETU. “The countdown is on – don't miss the chance to explore all SETU has to offer,” she adds.
‘Chat to SETU'
Building on SETU’s student-centered focus, Alison Moore, SETU Schools’ Liaison officer explains that there are several ways you can ‘Chat to SETU’ during this time.
“This can be a very stressful time of year for many current Leaving Cert students and their parents as the 1 February deadline approaches, but there is no need to panic. The most important thing to remember before 1 February is to list their course choices in genuine order of preference. Students will have from 7 May to 1 July to change their minds.
“In the meantime, using the ‘Chat to SETU’ function you will have an opportunity to ask those all-important questions on courses, entry requirements, accommodation, student life, and so much more. Our team is online to answer all your questions and help you choose the course that’s right for you,” says Alison.
The Chat to SETU team is providing a helpline service to coincide with the CAO deadline. You can contact our team from Monday, 22 January until Thursday, 1 February 9am to 4.30pm.
CAO live chat will run daily from 9am to 4.30pm on our website through the webchat option from Monday, 22 January until Thursday, 1 February.
There will be an Instagram Live Q&A session on
our SETU account on Wednesday, 31 January and Thursday, 1 February before the
CAO facility closes.
