Daisy Wiggin from Clonmel chose South East Technological University (SETU) to be close to home while opting for the international degree ensured she could eventually travel with the Erasmus student programme.

"I can't forget the personal journey that my religious studies minor took me on, I truly underestimated the profound impact it would have on me." SETU graduate, Daisy Wiggin

Experiencing different cultures

I have known that I wanted to study psychology since I was 14. I was a bit shy when I was leaving school so I decided to come to SETU because it was close to home [in Clonmel] and I could commute; it was handy for me. I did the international degree because I thought it would be great to experience a different culture, to move away from home for a while and see what it was like. I went to the Netherlands for my third year. I did a media psychology course to fulfil my credit requirements. It also allowed me to search for an internship. Life and culture over there was amazing. It was definitely one of the best years of my life so far, I had the best fun.

Thinking differently

I would say if you want to study psychology or if you have any interest in it then go for it! I found it fascinating and there are a wide variety of courses available. You might not find everything super interesting, but you will find something that makes you stop and think about life and your experience in a completely different way.

Personal journey

The people I met! I met my best friend in the first week and we have been inseparable ever since. I can't forget the personal journey that my religious studies minor took me on, I truly underestimated the profound impact it would have on me. Finally, it led me to my Master’s degree in The Netherlands in Clinical Psychology.
