1. Objective and Purpose
The SETU International Academic Excellence Scholarship (IAES) programme aims to support SETU in attracting exceptional international (non-EU) candidates to fulltime on-campus undergraduate and taught postgraduate programmes. These scholarships serve as a means to recognise and reward academic excellence and potential contributions to a vibrant SETU community.

2. IAES Evaluation and Criteria
IAES applications will be evaluated based primarily on academic merit, together with a holistic assessment of the applicant's scholarship application. The goal is to identify individuals who demonstrate the potential to significantly enrich the overall SETU environment and experience.

3. IAES Coverage
The IAES covers all (Full IAES) or half (Major IAES) of the SETU programme tuition fee and is applicable solely to the successful candidate's tuition expenses.

4. Competitive Selection Process
An annual competition will be conducted to select a limited number of students per region. Successful candidates will be awarded either a 100% or a 50% tuition fee scholarship.

5. Programme Entry Eligibility
IAES apply exclusively to students initiating a new fulltime programme of study at SETU. Those already enroled in a SETU programme will not be considered for an IAES specific to that programme.

6. Regional Residency and Eligibility
For region-specific IAES, applicants must adhere to the designated residency requirements outlined by SETU Global.

7. Eligibility for Non-EU Candidates
To be eligible for a SETU IAES, non-EU international students must be self-funded and pursuing a fulltime undergraduate or postgraduate taught programme at one of SETU’s campuses. They must not be in receipt of any other scholarship.

8. Programme Limitations
Eligible programmes encompass fulltime undergraduate and graduate taught programmes situated in the Carlow, Waterford, or Wexford campuses. Exclusions include online, part-time, and off-shore campus programmes. Additional exclusions may be defined from time-to-time by SETU Faculties.

9. Application Status Requirements
Applicants must already hold one of the following statuses on an application for an eligible SETU programme: Offer, Conditional Offer, Accept, or Conditional Accept.

10. Application Process and Guidelines
Interested candidates are encouraged to submit IAES applications following the instructions available on the SETU website.

11. IAES Exclusivity
The IAES cannot be combined with any other tuition scholarship.

12. Application Deadline Adherence
To ensure fair evaluation, only complete IAES applications received on or before the specified deadline will be considered. Deadlines may vary by region and will be communicated through the SETU website.

13. Selection and Notification
The SETU Academic Committee for International Academic Scholarships and Awards (ACISA) will select successful and reserve candidates and make recomendations to Academic Council. Candidates will be notified of Councils’ decisions within 8 weeks of the application deadline.

14. Committee Decisions and Finality
Decisions made by Council are final.

15. Acceptance and Deadline Compliance
After receiving an offer of an IAES, candidates must officially accept the offer within the timeframe communicated by SETU Global. Failure to comply within the stipulated timeframe will be construed as declining the scholarship offer.

16. Deposit and Award Confirmation
Candidates awarded the IAES must pay the required deposit upon accepting an offer at SETU. Successful awardees of the Full IAES will receive a deposit refund following registration.

17. IAES Conditions and Forfeiture
The IAES is non-transferable and cannot be deferred. It pertains only to the specified programme and academic term mentioned in the offer letter containing the IAES award.

18. Contribution as an International Ambassador
By accepting the IAES, students are expected to embrace their role as International Ambassadors.

19. Enrolment Status and IAES Eligibility
Changes in enrolment status, including withdrawal, reduced enrolment, suspension, or dismissal, result in loss of IAES eligibility. Appeals for reinstatement due to extenuating circumstances are considered.

20. Leave of Absence and IAES Retention
Students approved for a formal temporary cessation of registration and leave of absence may retain their IAES upon return, provided the leave does not exceed one academic year.

21. Reduced Fees and Prorated IAES
IAES’s may be prorated based on fee reductions or non-standard module or credit loads, following consultation with SETU Global.

 22. Renewal Criteria and Discontinued IAES’s
IAES’s are automatically renewed each year, subject to meeting academic requirements. Discontinued scholarships cannot be reinstated.

23. Scheme Flexibility and Changes
All scholarship and funding schemes are subject to fund availability and may undergo changes. Applicants are encouraged to stay informed about the latest details.

24. University's Right to Modify
SETU retains the right to withdraw, amend, or modify any aspect of the scholarship, rectifying errors if identified.

25. Misrepresentation and Disqualification
Any misrepresentation in applications will lead to immediate disqualification from the IAES programme.

26. Notification of Policy Changes
Applicants are reminded that the Terms and Conditions may change without prior notification. Staying informed is crucial for up-to-date information.

27. Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
In line with its commitment to Equality, Diversity & Inclusion, and to ensure diversity of scholarship recipients and awards across programmes and faculties, SETU shall monitor scholarship recipient equality and programme data to identify trends over time and to ensure equitable distribution of scholarships.
