This module is targeted primarily at those already qualified in an engineering/science discipline and who wish to develop a basic understanding of Automatic Control Systems.
Focusing on practical industrial applications, learners will gain an understanding of automatic control systems by exploring process characteristics, common control valves, Proportional Integral and Derivative based control strategies, and adjusting controller tuning parameters for vario.
Key Features:
- Delivered by lecturers on Instrumentation apprenticeship programmes.
- Mix of theory and practical work.
- Dedicated process instrumentation laboratories.
- Practical examples based on industrial processes.
- PID loop tuning using software simulation.
Delivery
The course consists of an 11-week on-campus program at the SETU Kilkenny Road Campus in Carlow, with sessions typically held once a week for 4 hours.
