SETU is the only provider in the south east region of professional development courses in Education. Our suite of programmes is designed around the needs of adult learners seeking to combine their professional practice with flexible and research-informed study.
Each programme supports learners in advancing their pedagogical expertise and developing the professional competencies required to meet the needs of the rapidly changing classroom landscape.
Informed by our partnerships with regional and national organisations and bodies to ensure relevance and real-world application, our programmes equip learners with the skillset to address contemporary challenges, inform positive change in schools and the policy arena and ensure professional development.
The range of professional education programmes offered at SETU’s Department of Education includes:
Initial Teacher Education Programme (Level 8) focusing on the formation of teachers and educators for the FET sector.
The BA (Hons) in Teaching in Adult and Further Education is a Teaching Council-approved teacher education qualification (TEQ) for practitioners working in the FET sector.
- Masters programmes (Level 9) including the MA in Management in Education (MAME) and Master of Education (MEd).
- Postgraduate Diplomas in Teaching in Further Education (Teaching Council-recognised) on a full or part-time basis (Level 9).
- Certificates in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education and in Technology- Enhanced Learning (Level 9, 30 credits).
