Tríona is a previous Irish Research Council Government of Ireland scholar. Her research is focused upon human resource management and digitalisation. The Academy of Management Human Resources Division recognised her research by awarding her Best Student Paper. She has presented her research at several national (e.g., Irish Academy of Management) and international (e.g., Academy of Management; Dutch HRM Network) conferences. Tríona is experienced at facilitating learning delivery to postgradute and undergraduate learners at University College Dublin (UCD), Dublin City University (DCU) and South East Technological University (SETU). Tríona also supervises Masters level students in the completion of their thesis. Prior to commencing her academic career, Tríona worked for 25+ years in the Manufacturing and Hospitality industries in senior leadership HR roles.
Tríona's teaching focuses on the subject of human resources. She facilitates learning at postgraduate level at South East Technological University (SETU), Waterford and Carlow campuses, Dublin City University (DCU) and University College Dublin (UCD).
As a member of the Research in Innovation, Knowledge, Organisations and Networks (RIKON) group Tríona has a particular interest in research related to human resource (HR) management and digitalisation with an emphasis on role of the HR practitioner and HR practice. She specialises in interpretive research most recently employing critical incident technique and drawing upon institutional theory. A previous Irish Research Council Government of Ireland Postgraduate (GOIPG) scholarship awardee, Tríona has secured funding for innovative teaching and learning practice, and for international research dissemination. Tríona has numerous peer-reviewed publications and has previously received the Best Student Paper award from the Academy of Management HR division.
