Biography

I currently lecture maths and computing modules in Waterford Institute of Technology where I specialise in social media technologies, project management, graphic design, digital marketing, and business information systems.

I also enjoy working with students with intellectual disabilities to whom I teach both maths and computing.

I deliver a number of modules within the Science and Computing, Business, and Health Sciences Schools in WIT; I have taught courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate level including supervision of projects at fourth year and masters level. The modules that I have delivered over the last number of years are primarily concerned with:

Software Design
Project Management
Digital Marketing and Social Media Technologies
Programming in Java and C++
Systems Analysis
Maths
Information Systems
Masters supervision in the area of educational technologies

Supplementary Activities
I am also involved with course design on a regular basis including the development of learning objectives, assessments, and teaching materials.

I coordinate the delivery of maths and computing modules to students with intellectual disabilities as part of a course designed by FETAC. A cohort of students with varying levels of intellectual disabilities were taken by WIT as a part of a Certificate in Independent Living pilot project in 2011 and these students completed the two year cycle in May 2013. WIT currently has its second cohort of students who will graduate in January 2016.

I previously worked for Dataworks, a Waterford-based software development company where I regularly used technologies such as VB, Adobe, ASP, JSP, Oracle, Java, MySQL and server technologies. My main role  was to engage with clients such as Hasbro, Waterford Crystal, Bausch and Lomb and local SMEs to address any software design issues they experienced and to manage and update their intranet, extranet and internet presences.
