Biography
Mary Lyng is a Lecturer in the Computing department at WIT since 2001. Her subject areas are Web Development and Database Systems.
She is joint programme leader of the BSc in Software Systems Development programme.
She has an MSc in Science by Research, and a BSc (Hons) in Applied Computing.
Attended four modules for ‘MSc in Computing’ stream in ESF Training for Trainers scheme:
- Graphical User Interface: C++, X Windows, HyperCard.
- UNIX and Engineering Workstations: Shell Programming, C Programming, Systems Management.
- Database Technology: ER modelling. Oracle SQL.
- World Wide Web Design and Development: The Internet and WWW; WWW Software Tools; Network Management; Advanced Web Design; Javascript; Perl; VRML.
Mary has worked on many programmes across two schools in Waterford Institute of Technology.

Mary's research interest is in the area of Web Development and the User Experience. She completed her MSc (by research). in 2000, entitled 'Experience Improving WWW based Courseware through evaluating User Satisfaction' under supervisor Prof. Vincent Wade, Trinity College, Dublin.
