Are you thinking about doing a college course in physics and would like a taster to see what it would be like? Then Try Physics is for you.
Try Physics is a half-day event comprising talks, demos and a practical lab designed to showcase the various elements that are part of physics as a subject and physics as a degree programme.
At Try Physics you will engage in hands-on activities in areas such as mechanics, light and sound that will demonstrate important physical principles and their use in modern technology. In addition, you will learn about the Big Bang, how to understand and access real IBM Quantum Computers, and have various cryogenic effects demonstrated such as super-conductivity. A lab practical will allow you to turn your mobile phone into a physics lab and you will also gain an appreciation of the wide variety of career options that are available to physics graduates. (Prior to attendance, you should install the phyphox app to your mobile phone -phyphox is available for free on Android and iOS.)
Because of the practical nature of some elements of the event, there is a limited number of spaces available. To be sure of your place, please apply as soon as possible.
