Try Computing is an interactive event for sixth year, fifth year, transition year, mature students and further education students interested in a career in ICT (Information & Communication Technology).

We will meet inside the main entrance of the Cork Road campus building, outside Centra and Frank & Honest café.
What will be covered
- Coding exercises (no experience needed!)
- PC Architecture crash course
- Engineering with AI tools
- A talk from a recent graduate about career opportunities
- Bring writing materials - pen and paper
- Lunch will be provided
- Finishing time is 12.30pm
Students will participate in practical exercises with staff from the Dept. of Computing & Maths, to explore the general area of computer science. This relates directly to courses on offer at SETU, such as Computer Science, Software Systems Development, Computer Forensics and Security, Creative Computing and Information Technology. This event will give the participants a tour of the computing facilities, where they will be given an 'Hour of Code' workshop, as well as other talks and demonstrations.
It will also facilitate them to meet lecturers, ask questions about courses and content and get an insight into what it's like to be a computing student at SETU.
